ARKANSAS HIKER

The Arkansas Hiker has a variety of trails. The trails include the Ouachita Trail, Eagle Rock Loop and the Buffalo River Trail. The Ouachita National Recreation Trail is 223 miles in length. The trail stretches from Talimena State Park in Oklahoma to Pinnacle Mountain State Parke in Arkansas. The Eagle Rock Loop trail is about 27 miles in length and is one of the largest Arkansas loop trails. The Buffalo River Trail is about 37 miles in length and starts at Boxley and ends in Pruitt.

FEATURES

Works in Airplane Mode

No mobile service or internet is required after initial setup. The app uses your device’s built-in GPS and downloaded topo maps.

Waypoints

Waypoints are plotted on the map, listed in a guide, and plotted on the elevation profile, including water sources, tenting sites, trail junctions, road crossings, landmarks, and town and resupply points of interest.

Water Information

Includes the most up-to-date water information gathered us and by other users of the app. The information is automatically updated in the comments section.

Route Creator Tool

Create your own route with the route creator tool. This is helpful for daily planning or to remember a completed day or section hike.

Elevation Profile

You won’t be surprised by a big climb if you use the elevation profile. Your current location and all waypoints are plotted on the profile.

Offline Maps

Offline map sets include U.S. Geological Survey topo maps (in feet), Open Street Map topo maps (in meters), and satellite imagery. Online maps include various styles of Google Maps (Android) or Apple Maps (iOS). Easily toggle among each type of map.

ABOUT THE ARKANSAS HIKER

Location: Arkansas & Oklahoma

The Arkansas Hiker has a variety of trails. The trails include the Ouachita Trail, Eagle Rock Loop and the Buffalo River Trail. The Ouachita National Recreation Trail (OT) is 223 miles in length. The trail stretches from Talimena State Park in Oklahoma to Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Arkansas. Parts of the OT is open to mountain bikes. The Eagle Rock Loop trail or ERL is about 27 miles in length and is one of the largest Arkansas loop trails. The trail involves a series of creek crossings and some steep hill climbs making it a relatively challenging hike. The Buffalo River Trail or BRT is about 37 miles in length and starts at Boxley and ends in Pruitt. The Buffalo River Trail follows closely to the Buffalo River and provides some spectacular river views.

  • Ouachita Trail: 233 miles, The trail stretches from Talimena State Park in Oklahoma to Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Arkansas.
  • Eagle Rock Loop: 27 miles, One of the longest loop trails in Arkansas.
